Client

The Majic Player client is a Windows based computer of a Majic Player end-user. To enable a computer to view Majic Player content, the Majic Player client application must be installed on the computer. A user with sufficient privilege to install an application within the Program Files directory of the client computer is required to successfully install the Majic Player client installation program. A free version of the Majic Player client application may be obtained from the registration page.

Once the Majic Player installation is successful, the Majic Player client can read Majic Player content via a .mcml file, the Majic Player Content Manifest Launcher file. The .mcml file may be located anywhere, including on a web site, the local client computer or a shared network directory. These files are very small and in essence are like a desktop shortcut to obtain content.

Once a .mcml file is activated by clicking it from a web site or double clicking it from your file system, the Majic Player client makes a request to the Majic Player Content Server to determine if the application may be downloaded. If so it downloads the application to the client computer. If not an authentication error is returned. All of the applications available at Sample Content are available for download by the general public.

The content delivery process consists of three main items, the Manifest, the content set and Majic Viewer. The Manifest contains meta data about the downloaded content. The Content Set consists of all of the application specific content, including content specific software code, necessary to run the application. Majic Viewer is the common Global Majic software that drives the viewing of a Majic Studio created application.

Once content is downloaded, the application will load automatically. After content download, an Internet connection is not necessary to view the content. Accessing the content is achieved using the appropriate .mcml file again. Each time a .mcml is accessed when Internet access is available, the Majic Player Content Server checks for updates and will prompt the user appropriately.
